A little About Me

Parisa Daneshvar is a professional musician, performer, educator, and music therapist based in Southern California. Hailing from a musical family, Parisa’s extensive background in Persian Classical Music included Radif and Dastgah (melody and mode) training from some of the most influential musical masters of the era, now synthesizing that experience with her own voice as a mentor to students aged 3 to 80 and everywhere in-between. An accomplished Ney player and savvy pianist, Parisa has received awards and accolades for her inspired performance history both in her native Iran and her adopted home in the United States. An active music therapist, Parisa offers one-on-one patient interactions, in addition to small- and large-group therapeutic sessions employing musical activities to guide, develop, and harmonize individuals and improve their emotional, physical, cognitive and social wellbeing.

Parisa’s artistry, background, and professional experience coalesce into her primary focus as an educator, her vision to introduce Iranian-American children to the rich traditions of their Iranian heritage through music. She maintains a robust private studio of students and families who she engages in various settings, including individual and group lessons, both remote and in-person, and ranging from novice to expert skill levels. She is also the founder of Parisa’s Children Ensemble, a hands-on performance group where members explore shared cultural roots and familial history through live and recorded performances; students learn to sing and perform traditional songs and stories in a variety of instrumental and choral arrangements.

Parisa is pleased to offer a customized, age-appropriate curriculum that simultaneously challenges her students’ notion of culture and space while building a community within Southern California’s broader multicultural landscape.
